Join Mayor Warren and Superintendent of Schools, David Fleishman to discuss our capital and financial needs. Our finances are back on track because of our zero base budgeting approach and the 100 million dollars we will save over the next 5 years thanks to our recently negotiated union contracts. For the first time in our city’s history we have a capital assessment of all of our infrastructure needs- aided by revolutionary software that allows us to evaluate our needs on a risked based assessment. Although we have done tremendous work there is still more we need to do. We will discuss ways to address our capital needs, growth in the schools and continuing to make Newton one of the safest cities to live. The Mayor and Superintendent want to hear from you on the decisions we need to make going forward.  We hope you can join us for one of these very important meetings.

Daily trips ( roller skating, glow golf, laser maze), along with cooking, ice skating, sledding, and even magic.(we may need magic to bring back winter weather so we can enjoy outside sports)  We have a few openings left so please call for more details. ( 617) 332-7327.

McAdams Magic will be visiting Lower Falls Community Center from 1:30-2:30 on Friday of vacation week and you are invited.  The children will watch Greg the magician perform magic and then will learn how to do some of the tricks themselves.  Everyone will receive a magic wand and a delicious  snack.  Please call to reserve your space. Newton at Home (NAH) is a quickly-growing non-profit organization in Newton, dedicated to enabling older adults to remain living in their homes safely and independently as they grow older. NAH is looking for a volunteer to serve as an office adminstrator. This means providing general office support for the Executive Director, handling member requests for services, maintaining and entering data into NAH databases, assisting with events and mailings, and scheduling meetings. Volunteers need good computer and communication skills. Must be willing to commit to three days per week from 9:30am-1:30pm through the rest of the school year (until June 2012). NCE offers a variety of cool vacation-week programs for kids. Try Domino Physics or Wicked Wacky Lab Week over February break (or Advanced Domino Physics if you’ve taken this class before), and explore Marble Machine Madness or Deep Blue Sea over April break. These programs take place at Newton North High School. In addition, over both vacations we’re running our ever-popular Make a TV Show program at NewTV, and Babysitting Certification classes as well.
