Technology Plan for Williams

Bringing us into the 21st Century

We are Behind the Curve.

The technology available at Williams is unacceptable by 2009 standards. There’s a real and growing danger
that we will never catch up. We live with out-of date computers and unreliable projectors. Teachers are unable to
run many of the technology-based instructional programs available to them. Unfortunately, the level of ongoing
funding available through Newton Public Schools and the PTO’s traditional fundraising cannot close the funding gap.

Invest In Your Child’s Education.

To modernize technology at Williams, we must raise $136,000 – approximately $500 per student – from all available sources, including PTO fundraising, grants, corporate sponsorships, and the NPS budget. Through the generosity of our Williams community and other sources, we have raised $25,000, much of which has been spent on LCD projectors and new computers.

Our Goal is to Equip Classrooms with:

  • A student/computer ratio of 2:1
  • ELMO Visual Presenters
  • Smart Boards

Together we can change an ordinary building into an extraordinary opportunity for students.

Technology can enrich and enliven the classroom-learning environment. New interactive technologies enable teachers to easily differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners, work more efficiently, easily track student progress and deliver consistent, high-quality curriculum and programs. Having up-to-date technology in classrooms enables children to learn at their own pace, engages learners with different learning styles, and builds valuable skills and knowledge.

The Will to Change.

The PTO has formed a Technology Fundraising Committee to lead this effort. We need your help! Please let us
know if you want to be involved. Learn more by reading the attached overview of the Williams Instructional
Technology Plan.
