Influenza- like illness in the Newton Public Schools remains low. However, health officials caution a third wave of H1N1 could occur in the future. It’s not too late to get vaccinated! The health department has both H1N1 and seasonal influenza vaccine available for people of all ages. Children under age 10 need two doses of H1N1 vaccine. Call the health department at 617-796-1420 to make an appointment with a public health nurse to be vaccinated.
The Health & Human Services Department is reviewing the H1N1 vaccination experience to learn from the process. The information will be used to inform planning for possible school-based flu vaccination in the future. To help, please complete a short survey about your child’s experience. This survey is open to all Newton Public Schools parents, whether or not your children were vaccinated for H1N1 at their school. It’s particularly important to hear from both parents of children who were vaccinated at school and those who were not vaccinated at
school. Please click on the link below by Friday, April 2, to complete the survey. Thank you for your help.
