The Ancient Wanderers are a travel group led by Jack O’Connor. Jack teaches history at the Day Middle School. The trips are through a company out of Cambridge called EF tours. These trips really give students a chance to explore history in a different way. It is a true hands-on experience. There is nothing like seeing the ancient sites in person. It brings their studies to life. The group travels to sites covered the seventh grade history curriculum. The tours are primarily for seventh and eighth graders. It is nearly all-inclusive in cost (2 meals a day – hotels, flights and ground transportation are all included) and this makes it possible for students and families to travel at a minimal cost. Parent chaperons are welcome. Jack travels to these spots frequently and will act as guide for the students. In addition they will have professional guides provided by the EF tours. It is quite nice for the students to see the places they have studied in school. This summer the Ancient Wanderers will be traveling to Italy in late July and Egypt in early August. If you would like more information please contact ancientwanderers@hotmail.com
Help Keep Sidewalks Safe During the Winter! Many people in our community depend on being able to walk year round, including children walking to school or the bus, neighbors who can’t drive and mail carriers. The Bike/Pedestrian Task Force, Newton Safe Routes to School Task Force, League of Women Voters, and PTO Council are working together and need your help.
What you can do:
• Shovel your sidewalk to bare pavement
• Clear a three- to four-foot wide path
• Chop or melt ice
• Help neighbors who can’t shovel because they are elderly or have a disability
• Don’t put snow from driveways or walks onto the sidewalk — $25 fine!
We’re all in this together – Newton depends on neighbors to help neighbors! For answers to your snow-shoveling questions, a list of volunteers and commercial contractors, and maps of city-cleared routes, visit newtonma.gov/snow or call 617 796-1000. Interested in passing this information along to neighbors? Go to http://groups.google.com/group/srtsnewton/files for flyer. And remember, shoveling the sidewalk does not create a legal liability! Contact Lucia Dolan at luciadolan@rcn.com with any questions.

FYI. The boathouse is at 20 Nonantum ROAD, not street. They are about a mile apart.
Thanks.
