Last PTO Meeting Just Before Arch Day
Please join us this Tuesday, June 23rd, the last day of school, for our last PTO meeting of the year. The meeting will take place in the gymnasium at 9:30 am prior to the Arch Day ceremony, which commences at 10 am. At this all-important but brief meeting we will vote in the 09-10 PTO slate, among other items. Please come and join the process as well as have the opportunity to mingle before the 10 am Arch Day ceremony.
See you there!
Sound System Thank you!
Test 1, 2, 3 can you hear me now? A resounding YES, we can hear you now! A very loud and enthusiastic thank you to Jeanine Cowen and Sara Whitman for their herculean efforts in supplying Williams with a long-needed sound system for the auditorium. Through their time, energy, knowledge and financial support, we can hear you now! A couple of months ago we saw their initial work with the sound system in the dining hall. Now with the completion of the installation in the auditorium, we will be able to hear all our children’s voices both big and small as they perform for us on stage for many years to come. Jeanine and Sara, we hope you can hear us now—THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Celebration of Dr. Moynihan
The Williams community came out in full force gathering around Dr. Moynihan to make sure she knows how
much she’s loved here and how much we all appreciate all of the wonderful things she’s done for our children
and for our school. In case you missed the acrostic poem that Williams students from each classroom
helped to write, here it is again:
D Delightful
R Radiant
M Math Power
O Outstanding
Y Yearning for Learning
N Neat
I Imagine
H Highlight of the Day
A Animated
N Number Queen
P Purple
H Honorable
D Dynamic
Huge thanks to Dan Fitzpatrick and Joan Cody, who took on the enormous task of event planning, and got it
just right. Our thanks, too, to Crystalyn Gladstone, Teachers Asst. for Mrs. Black and Mrs. Kanode’s 4th
Grade Class, who created the beautiful scrapbook that pulled together all of the momentos, pictures, and
notes from Williams families into one cohesive story of Dr. Moynihan’s importance in our community.
Awesome Art Show!
Dr. Moynihan said it best; excellent teachers draw out the very best in their students and
Ms. McGill has successfully encouraged the artist in each of our kids. The hallways at
Williams have been a delight to walk through because of all of the fabulous art on display.
The Art Show gloriously highlighted the creativity of Williams students. Ms. McGill we
thank you.
Buffet of Appreciation
Buffet of Appreciation
Thanks to Christina Brooks and Rosa Dare who organized the Teacher
and Staff Appreciation Luncheon last week. It was a terrific buffet put together by Williams
families in appreciation for all our teachers and staff do throughout the year to make Williams
such a wonderful community! Our thanks to all the Williams families who participated by
donating time, food and supplies to make this a scrumptious event.
Color Day Shines Brightly
There were the classics, like the Pizza Box Carry and the Tug-of-Fun, and some new events too, like the Beach
Ball Balance and the Hula Hoop Contest. Fauxhawks in red, green, and blue and team spirit galore. The Parent
Teacher Egg Toss was an instant hit that we are sure to see for years to come. We have some great egg
tossers at Williams! Big thanks to Sis Belcher who planned a fantastic Color Day, and to Elaine Rush Arruda
and Joyce McDonald who coordinated all of the parent volunteers who make this field day possible.
Special thanks to our WFW team
Our newsletter has taken on many forms over the past two years and as we’ve been experiencing with different
styles one thing has remained constant…our fabulous Communications Editor Christine Lacey. Christine, we
thank you for your tireless commitment! We also want to thank Carol Bradford-Roe who puts together the
classified section for each issue. The WFW is an important communication tool that both Christine and Carol
immerse themselves into on a bi-weekly basis. Thank you Christine and Carol for all of the hours you have
selflessly given – your efforts are very much appreciated.
Faculty and Staff at Williams are amazing
We are blessed to have such a talented staff at Williams. When you walk through the hallways the warmth from the Williams team is simply contagious. Thank you to our wonderful teachers for the wisdom and patience our children experience each and every day. Dottie and Bill thank you for making the operations of our school run flawlessly daily. Joan thanks for being the ultimate utility player, always filling in where the need is greatest. Nurse Dolly thank you for taking care of our children when we can’t be there to comfort them. (we know your office is a refuge.) And then there are all of our specialists who go above and beyond duty and it truly shows. There are so many of you that comprise this inner workings of Williams. We thank each of you for the expertise, guidance and persistence you bring to the table in helping all of our children to imagine, believe and achieve! Special thanks to Dr. Christine Moynihan for her boundless energy that showers our children with love that they feel the second they step foot on school grounds. Your dedication and spirit will truly be missed and we can never thank you enough for your endless devotion to the Williams community for the past 6 years. We wish you nothing but the best as you begin the next chapter of your life.
Final thoughts
It seems as though it was just yesterday we were scrambling to put pen to paper for our beginning of the school
year thoughts, yet here we are almost 180 days later with our final thoughts. To say it has been a year of
change would be an understatement. The global changes have worked their way swiftly down to all of us. The
survival skills have kicked into high gear with most of us are making changes to adapt to the new global
economy. If one steps back though to look for the silver lining in this sea of change, surprisingly one answer
lies no farther away than the inside of one’s home. For here dwells your family, the reason that gets you out of
bed everyday and the element that can pull and tug at your heartstrings like no other. And as we all struggle to
find ways to achieve financial balance in our lives, we hopefully will rediscover that children really just love us
for us and the simple things we can do with them. They love us to play hide and go seek, hop scotch, jump
rope, board games, walk to the playground, read books and just spend quality family time together. We hope
your summer allows you some precious time to do just that with your family. We know that will be our goal. We
thank you for your endless support this year and wish you all a happy, fun filled summer. We look forward to
seeing everyone in September at our opening PTO picnic!
As always we leave you with a quote:
